About RateSleuth

Built by a trip planner who got tired of refreshing.

RateSleuth watches Walt Disney World resort rates, special offers, and Lightning Lane prices for your dates, and alerts you the moment something actually gets cheaper.

The story

I’m Brennan, a software developer, and in my family I’m the one who handles the logistics of our Disney World trips: the resort booking, the Lightning Lanes, the dining reservations. We plan the trips together, but I own the spreadsheets.

Each trip has been its own project — our first stay off property, our second at a moderate resort, our next at a deluxe — and every round has taught me a little more about how resort, ticket, and dining offers actually work.

Planning the trips is the fun part. Watching the prices is not. Planning trip three meant being glued to the resort search page, comparing dates and rates across seasonal discounts and a bounce-back offer — with the nagging pressure that committing to a stay meant betting against a better deal showing up later.

Then I learned something that changed the picture: for many Walt Disney World stays, Disney lets you apply a newly released discount to a reservation you already hold. Book the trip you want, and if a lower rate later covers your dates, rebook at the lower price. Same room, same trip, less money. The pressure to pick perfectly disappears — if you find out the better rate exists while inventory lasts. That part is pure detective work — and tireless detective work is exactly what computers are for. So instead of refreshing by hand, I built a sleuth.

RateSleuth checks prices around the clock and alerts you when your dates get cheaper. That’s the whole idea, and it’s the whole product.

What RateSleuth does

You create a watch on what you care about — a resort stay, special offers, or Lightning Lane prices. RateSleuth monitors it 24/7. When a price actually drops or a publicly announced offer appears that fits your watch, you get an alert — by email, or by text message if you’re on Pro — with the details: the old price, the new price, how much you would save, plus a link to check it on Disney’s site.

That’s it. No dashboards to babysit, no refreshing, no noise. We only reach out when there’s something real to tell you.

What we promise

You shouldn’t have to take a new tool on faith. Here’s where RateSleuth stands, plainly:

Alerts, never automation

RateSleuth watches prices and sends you an alert. It never books rooms or Lightning Lanes, and never acts on your behalf.

Never touches your Disney account

We don’t ask for, store, or use your Disney login. You do all your booking yourself, on Disney’s site.

No spam, no list-selling

We don’t sell or rent your email, and we don’t send daily marketing blasts. Alerts you asked for, and nothing you didn’t.

Honest about limits

RateSleuth reads prices that Disney publishes publicly. That means a couple of honest caveats. Prices are watched, not guaranteed — scraped data can lag, and discounts have limited inventory, so a rate can change back before you book. We show the time each price was verified so you always know how fresh it is, and every alert links straight to Disney’s site so you can confirm and book right away. We aim to catch every drop, but we can’t promise it.

RateSleuth is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by The Walt Disney Company.
